Kia Motors Qatar has announced that it is a sponsor of the HawaScene programme, which involves free open-air film screening every Thursday and Friday evening at Dahl Al Hamam Park in
Markhiya until March 2017.
HawaScene – The Outdoor Movie Experience is a recently-launched initiative of Smart Global and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
The movies to be screened as part of the programme cater to families and include children’s classics such as Finding Nemo, The Lion King, Aladdin and others. Besides, Kia Qatar is staging its own sports and recreational activities for children and teenagers at the park before the
movie screening.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Kia Qatar to give back to the community in Qatar by supporting the HawaScene initiative. Aside from being a reflection of our brand personality of being full of life and exciting, this programme also emphasises the development of society through time-honoured values such as quality family time and love for the environment and outdoors,” said Hossam Abu Shadi, director (automotive), Kia Motors.
With its numerous activities globally, Kia Motors has “created a strong link between its brand and several top-notch sports competitions and organisations such as the FIFA World Cup, Australian Open tennis tournament and NBA basketball league”, according to a
statement.
Kia Motors Qatar said it has sought to recreate the excitement of sports and recreation through some of its activities during the HawaScene programme. Boys, girls and teenagers are encouraged to test their football skills through goal-scoring and ball-dribbling contests that create much enthusiasm at the venue, the statement notes.
Another special activity is the unique Qatari childhood game of Al Dahrowi, or metal wheel or ring race. Al Dahrowi serves to remind children of the joys of playing outdoors and with peers in a simpler setting than what they are used to now.
There are special activities for girls, such as colouring a Kia car and keeping it as a souvenir. The children can freely use their imagination and creativity in painting their own unique
perception of the car.
