The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is all set to launch its Global Gas Outlook 2040, the first comprehensive gas-focused report.

GECF secretary general Dr Seyed Mohamad Hossein Adeli will release the outlook at its headquarters in Doha on January 17, 2017.
The launch, which follows the completion of the GECF global gas model (CGM), will take place before a select gathering of guests including ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, academic, international oil and gas company executives, businesses as well as senior experts and analysts from the gas and energy sector.
The GGM is a specialised, energy/gas forecasting tool that reflects the dynamic changes taking place in the gas market at a specific time horizon. It can stimulate the impact of expected/potential/virtual changes on the global gas chain.
The development of the GGM started in March 2011 based on a phased approach over four years, from a highly aggregated geographical regions and complex set of energy and gas modules in Phase 1. It maps the gas value chain and provide global gas demand-supply coverage, to more detailed drill-downs and breakdown of regions into individual countries during phases 2 to 4, as well as improving and adding additional functionalities to the model during the final phases.
The GECF is an international, governmental organisation which provides the framework for exchanging experience and information among member countries. It is a gathering of the world’s leading gas producers and was set up with the objective of increasing the level of coordination and strengthen the collaboration among member countries.
The member countries of are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the UAE and Venezuela, while Azerbaijan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman and Peru have observer status.
