Eid Charity announced yesterday that it allocated around QR12mn to carry out four aid projects in Aleppo and Idlib in Syria, in light of the current developments there.
A statement released to the press from Eid Charity said that of the four medical projects the first one will be worth QR4mn and will look to operate Al Sham Medical Complex in the north of Aleppo and provide it with the equipment and doctors.
The second project, worth QR1.5mn, will be to operate the women’s and children’s hospital in the same complex and the third project is worth QR5mn and aims to provide necessary medications in the Western parts of Aleppo and in Idlib.
As for the fourth project, Eid Charity is preparing five mobile clinics to serve Aleppo and Idlib to provide healthcare services to refugees and dwellers in these areas.
The charity’s has spent QR300mn in aid of the Syrian people so far since the start of the crisis. It ranged from providing food to healthcare and education.
Meanwhile, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), in instant response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Aleppo, has distributed relief aid and dispatched mobile clinics at various destinations of Syrian internally displaced people (IDPs).
In co-operation with Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), QRCS’s personnel in Lebanon began installing thermal insulators inside the tents of Syrian refugees.
The first mobile clinic was sent by Anjara Health Centre to Atarib Twon to visit the IDP-hosting households. A 24/7 makeshift clinic was set up at the most frontline IDP destination, with daytime doctors and a night paramedic.
A second mobile clinic headed for Maarrat Al-Ikhwan, northern Idlib countryside. Comprising an internist, a dermatologist, a midwife, nurses, and community health workers, the mobile clinic screened and helped IDPs.
At the same time, four visiting teams went to Armanaz, Darat Izza, Qah, and Atarib, where they examined more than 240 under-five children and referred serious cases to hospitals.
The evacuations from Aleppo will be closely monitored over the coming days, and if necessary, more mobile clinics will be sent in co-ordination with partners and concerned authorities.
In Lebanon QRCS and KRCS initiated the third phase of the thermal insulator project, at a cost of $244,000. This phase involves installing thermal insulation sheets inside 2,233 tents in Northern and Central Bekaa regions, benefiting estimated 12,200 Syrian refugees.
QRCS Secretary-General, Ali Hassan al-Hammadi, emphasised the strategic partnership with KRCS in helping the Syrian brothers, particularly those displaced from Aleppo amid an alarming escalation over the past two weeks.
This statement comes as QRCS-KRCS personnel distributed 200 blankets and 200 warm clothing bags, under a joint relief intervention for Aleppo’s distressed IDPs.
In Lebanon, al-Hammadi commended the concerted efforts to bring relief to IDPs in Idlib and on the  outskirts of Aleppo.
“This first and following batches of aid would hopefully meet the basic needs of homeless Syrian families, who are suffering unbearable conditions,” he added.
