HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud met a delegation of internally displaced persons’ (IDPs) football team from Darfur, currently on a visit to Doha. 
During the meeting, the delegation expressed gratitude and appreciation for the role of Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, in ensuring peace and stability in Darfur.
The delegation pointed out that the formation of the Darfur IDPs football team came within the framework of popular initiatives to support the Darfur peace along the lines of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD).
For his part, HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud greeted the football team, stressing the importance of sport in deepening the concepts of peace and spreading the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity.
HE al-Mahmoud also stressed the State of Qatar’s keenness to support all the activities which would maintain peace, stability and development in Darfur.
The meeting was attended by Sudanese ambassador to Qatar Fateh al-Rahman Ali Mohamed and a number of officials in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
