Zohaib smashed a superb half-century to inspire Khetco Team to an emphatic 37-run triumph against Doha Warriors in the final of division B of the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) Tournament.
At the West Bay Ground, Zohaib’s 51 formed the base for Khetco Team challenging 163 for six in 20 overs. Doha Warriors could not keep pace with the opponents and fell way short of the target.
After Zohaib’s knock, Noor Wahid and Naveed played useful knocks to consolidate their team further. Wahid made 36 and Naveed chipped in 29. Khalil and Samad helped them cross the 150-mark.
Saleh was the most impressive of the Doha Warriors bowlers with a brace.
Doha Warriors suffered regular blows and could not hold their innings together. Samad picked two wickets, while four others– Karamat, Naseeb, Musawar and Arshad – got one each.
Rizwan and Ramzi resisted the most. Rizwan hit a fighting 34 and Ramzi came up with 31. Saleh made 15 and Teji collected 12.
Lufti notched up a notable all-round performance that guided Sharks XI to a convincing five-wicket victory in a Division C final match.
Lufti first picked up three wickets and in tandem with Sadiq, who also dismissed three players, he restricted Shaeen XI to a modest 120 for nine in 20 overs.
During the chase, Lufti hit a match-high 30 to set up the victory. Support from Qassim (24 runs), Raees (19 runs) and Shafeeq (15 runs) to the team’s cause was also crucial.
