Al Shahania’s head of Football, Mohammed al-Shammari, believes that his team won’t give up on the QSL campaign and will continue their battle right until the end of the season.
“We didn’t expect the draw against Al Ahli considering that we were leading the game. We play for the win in all our games, however, we are happy that we came away with the point,” al-Shammari said after the 1-1 draw versus Al Ahli.
He also pointed out that the team lacks the concentration and luck in some games. “The players are putting in their best efforts,” he said. However, hesitation and the absence of a few players have affected the team in the league. Al Shahania have been missing a number of key players such as the Iranian professional Mehrdad Pooladi.
Talking about their match against Al Khor later this week, al-Shammari said, “It won’t be an easy game versus Al Khor and we will play for the three points in order to stay away from the bottom of the league table. We have huge confidence in the players as well as the technical staff led by the head coach Jose Fernando.”
Al-Shammari expressed his satisfaction with the players’ performance but the results don’t serve the team best benefits.
Commenting on whether the club will be planning to support the team with some players during the winter transfer window, he said, “It is early to speak about this as we are only focusing on gathering as many points as possible till the end of the first leg of the QSL. Of course, the technical staff and the club management will decide later whether the team needs some new players, noting that the club management, chaired by Manahi al-Shammari, are supporting the football team in every possible way.”
