The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has spotted a consumer shopping centre manipulating the information of its weighing scales, as part of an inspection campaign on commercial outlets at the various areas around the country.

The centre was issued a violation of law no 8 for 2008 on Consumer Protection for adding the weight of a purchased item to another weight already stored on the scales previously.

The penalty for such violation ranges from the administrative closure of the outlet for different periods of time and fines that range from QR3,000 to QR1mn.
