The five first winners of Katara’s fine arts contest, launched on the sidelines of the sixth edition of Katara’s Traditional Dhow Festival, have been announced.
The first award went to Iman Abdullah Jassim al-Haidous, followed by Mahesh Kumar Panara Buraijl.
Fahid Ali Ahmed al-Maedeed won the third prize, with Salem Abdullah (fourth) and Ahmad al-Zahed (fifth) being the other prize winners.
The honouring ceremony had the presence of Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara-the Cultural Village Foundation; Ahmad al-Sayed, deputy general manager for operational affairs; and Dr Nadia al-Madahka, director of the research and studies department.
 The competition’s jury members also attended.
“Katara is keen to boost the number of Qatari, Arabic and international artists to display their creative works and best contributions through distinctive paintings that reflect the ancient Qatari heritage and noble humanitarian issues,” Dr al-Sulaiti said.
