HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani participated in the opening of the 35th session of GCC interior ministers which was held in Riyadh yesterday.
The opening session was attended as well by GCC Secretary General Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid al-Zayani and a number of senior security officials in GCC countries.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz delivered a speech in which he welcomed the interior ministers of the GCC member-sates.
Saudi Press Agency quoted the crown prince as saying: “We have recently witnessed in Bahrain the GCC Joint Drill - the Arabian Gulf Security One - which is a bright model and practical application of the GCC joint security as well as unity of determination and seriousness of negligence or dereliction.”
He pointed that the GCC region is surrounded by several security threats in light of variables in the world, intellectual and sectarian conflicts and terrorist phenomena supported by countries and organisations seeking to carry out their goals, adding: “We are able to fend off these risks and maintain the security of our countries and peoples.”
The Crown Prince expressed the importance of concerted efforts in accordance with a comprehensive security vision and professional strategy to maintain the GCC security and deter any aggressor.
In his address, the GCC Secretary General Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid al-Zayani stressed the importance of enhancing the GCC security.
Following the meeting, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani attended a luncheon banquet hosted by Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Mohamed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz al-Saud in honour of GCC interior ministers.
The banquet was attended as well by GCC Secretary General Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid al-Zayani and a number of senior security officials in GCC countries.
Earlier on arrival, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani was greeted at King Salman Air Base in Riyadh by Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Mohamed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, several princes, Qatar’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer al-Thani, and senior officials and members of Qatar’s embassy.
