A `minor' traffic diversion for approximately 1.4km, south of Al Wakra on Mesaieed Road, will be in place for three months from Thursday.
The diversion starts from about 14km south of Al Wakra town, Ashghal said on Tuesday.
The road change is required to enable the construction of a critical interchange that will connect the new Hamad Port to the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route project.
During the diversion, road users travelling northbound from Mesaieed to Al Wakra will be detoured to a 1.4km long purpose-built loop road before rejoining Mesaieed Road (as shown on the map).
The new loop road will have the same road capacity, and road users continue to have access to two lanes in all directions.
With the `camping' season now underway, Ashghal has reminded road users to exercise special care while driving to their campsite, by reducing speed at 50kph and following newly installed diversion road signs to ensure their safety.
