A large number of students participated in a discussion session with Qatar University (QU) president Dr Hassan al-Derham at the annual ‘Meet the President’ event yesterday.
The event aimed to discuss with students matters of concern and interest, and to encourage their participation in university affairs. It was also attended by QU vice presidents, college deans, heads of departments and programmes, faculty and staff.
In his opening remarks, Dr al-Derham asserted that the annual gathering aims to enhance the spirit of communication between students and the university.
“QU continues to create an exciting and inspiring environment that encourages students’ participation in the learning experience, and in which they can express their views on a wide range of issues related to academic affairs and student services.”
During the event, students asked questions, discussed concerns and commented on a wide range of topics including academic programmes and their alignment with market needs, admission and reinstatement policies, parking facilities, cafeteria food and prices, the establishment of a health clinic at the male building, and the provision of emergency vehicles at the university, among many others.
