However, the vaccination campaign, carried out through the schools, have been completed by November 14. A total 339 schools were covered including 214 government schools and kindergartens and 125 private schools. The total number of children vaccinated so far is 160,000.
The ministry stated that the campaign was extended till November 30 due to high demand from the public.
The MOPH has urged the parents whose children are between the age of 1 and 13 and have not yet been vaccinated during the campaign, to get their children vaccinated to any of the health facilities to avail the booster dose before the end of the campaign. This is very important especially as measles cases are recorded in Qatar. In the last three months, six confirmed measles cases were recorded among those who had not received the MMR vaccine. Such cases can be prevented and measles can be eliminated in Qatar if parents ensure that their children take the two routine MMR vaccination doses as well as the booster dose.
The ministry also organised an open vaccination day at the Pakistan Education Centre in Abu Hamour, on November 19 where a team from the ministry was available to vaccinate children who missed the vaccination .
The private healthcare facilities where MMR vaccination is available are Al- Ahli Hospital, Doha Clinic Hospital, El-Emadi Hospital, American Hospital, Aster Medical Centre at Al Muntazah, Mother and Foetus Complex, Alisraa Clinic, Aster plus Medical Centre, Al Hilal branch, Aster Medical Centre Al Khor, Altaai Medical Centre, the Syrian American Medical Centre, Family Medical Centre, Alhayaa Medical Centre, Apollo Medical Centres, Dr. Maher Abbas Clinic, Almansoor Medical Complex, Alkayali Medical Centre, Altadawi Medical Centre, Atlas Medical Centre, Future Medical Centre and Aljameel Medical centre.
