Nasser al-Yafai and Turky Majed al-Abdullah won the boys under-14 and under-12 titles at the 2016 Qatar ExxonMobil Junior Open at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex.
Qatar’s al-Yafai claimed the title after beating Hamad al-Rumaihi 2-0 in the final match, while al-Abdullah won following his 2-0 victory over Meshaal al-Khenji.  The tournament is scheduled to conclude today.
In the doubles event for boys under-12, Adel Ghanim and Meshaal al-Khenji will take on Ghanim Zainal and Turky Majed al-Abdullah in the final.
In boys under-10 category (green stage), Nasser al-Khelaifi reached the final after beating Jassim al-Thani in the semifinals. Ghanim al-Sulaiti also made to the final match.
On the other hand, Amna al-Qaeet will face off with her sister Sarah al-Qaeet in the final match of girls under-12 category.
The championship reflects the strong partnership between the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) and ExxonMobil Qatar as it is considered one of the tournaments that aim at developing the skills of Qatar’s national teams’ players.
 
Qatar Asian Junior
Championship kicks off

The 2016 Qatar Asian Junior Championship (Under 14 Years) will begin at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex today.
To conclude on Saturday, the event will feature the participation of 70 players from different Asian countries in addition hosts Qatar.
The Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) gave the wild cards to Qatar’s Nasser al-Yafai, Abdulaziz Zainal, Amna al-Qaeet and Sarah al-Qaeet in addition Saudi Arabia’s Qassim Ebaidan and Bahrain’s Mohamed al-Shahabi.
QTF Board member and head of National Teams Committee, Khalid al-Khelaifi, said, “The QTF is keen to organise a huge number of local and international events to give the Qatari players an opportunity to develop their skills.”
