The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has announced a recall of the UK (Type G) detachable power plug for Medela breast pumps over a potential defect in the detachable power plug as it can break apart while removing it from the UK socket by applying a certain level of force, potentially exposing live parts.
The recall is being carried out in collaboration with Wellcare Trading, dealer of UK detachable power plugs for Medela pumps in Qatar.
In a statement, the ministry has said the recall campaign comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that dealers follow up on product defects and repairs.
The MEC has urged consumers to stop using the product and contact the company in order to take the necessary action or register at www.medela.com/ukplug for free-of-charge replacement.
Further, the ministry said it will co-ordinate with the dealer to follow up on the maintenance and repair works and communicate with customers to ensure that the necessary repairs are carried out.
