A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an Asian expatriate man to one year in jail and ordered his subsequent deportation for stealing spare parts from a vehicle owned by a company.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the defendant sold the stolen spare parts to a garage in Industrial Area for QR2,000. The purchaser was acquitted by the court after proving his ignorance about the origin of the parts.
During interrogation, the defendant told the investigators that he used to take spare parts of abandoned vehicles and sell them in Industrial Area. However, a witness told the court that he saw the defendant towing some vehicle's from the company's site. When asked, the defendant claimed he had bought them from the company.
