Huawei Consumer Business Group unveiled two of the company’s “most anticipated” devices – Huawei Mate 9 and the exclusive Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 at an exclusive global launch in Munich, Germany on November 3.
The smartphone bears a dual rear camera setup designed in collaboration with Leica, which is certainly the highlight feature. The suggested retail price is €699.
The company also unveiled the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9, with a €1,395 price tag. The Huawei Fit activity tracker was also launched.
Qatar customers can expect Huawei Mate 9 by December first week, sources said.
According to Huawei, the key features of Mate 9 include performance in design, redefined speed, advanced battery, stunning photography and groundbreaking UX (user experience).  
The highlight of the Huawei Mate 9 is the new artificial intelligence feature, which will learn the daily habits of the user.
The newest member of the Mate Series delivers business users a breakthrough Android experience – featuring the fastest computing performance available today, breakthrough SuperCharge technology and a “stunning” new UX.
The Huawei Mate 9 is a dynamic interplay of industry-leading hardware and advanced software that work together to keep users a step ahead.
Key features of the device include Kirin 960 chipset, the world’s highest performing smartphone processor, EMUI 5.0, an intuitive user interface that allows more than 50% of features to be reached within two clicks, ‘SuperCharge’ technology that delivers a full day’s charge in 20 minutes, second generation Leica dual-lens camera with12-megapixel RGB sensor, 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and Hybrid Zoom, featuring a “superior” 2x magnification.
According to Huawei, Kirin 960 is the world’s first chipset to feature an ARM Cortex-A73/A53Octa-coreCPU and Mali G71Octa-coreGPU.
Launching the products at Dolce Munich Unterschleissheim, Richard Yu, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO said, “In developing the Huawei Mate 9, we started with a simple question – how can we improve every element of the smartphone experience?”
He said, “We know that for today’s business users, a fast and functional smartphone is just the beginning. They also want a gorgeous design and intuitive features.
So we have created two new devices at the forefront of hardware and software innovation. The result is a device that is breathtakingly new, inside and out.”
With more than 100mn units sold, Huawei’s Kirin chipsets have powered users with everything they expect from their mobile devices, speed, intuition and reliability.
The Huawei Mate 9 Series debuts the premium Kirin 960 chipset with Huawei’s Machine Learning Algorithm, which delivers a fast and smooth experience even after 18 months of continuous usage.
The CPU, Huawei said “delivers the best multi-core performance” among all smartphone SoCs, while reducing power consumption by 15%. The GPU boasts of a 180% performance uplift and a 40% improvement in energy efficiency compared to its predecessor.
The Huawei Mate 9 combines a 4000mAh high-density battery with Huawei’s all new ‘SuperCharge’ technology. With its advanced power saving technology, the Huawei Mate 9 increases battery life to “provide over two days of uninterrupted performance.”
The battery sets a new standard in charging technology including Super Safe 5-gate protection, which offers real-time voltage, current and temperature monitoring to eliminate safety hazards and safeguard battery life. It delivers a longer battery life for more talking, gaming and streaming.
The Huawei Mate 9 features the second generation dual-lens camera co-engineered with Leica. Huawei and Leica have “continued to improve and enhance” the optical performance of the camera module, which now includes a 12-megapixel/F2.2RGBsensor,a 20-megapixel/F2.2monochromesensorand enhanced image fusion algorithms that work in concert to produce stunning photography.
The Huawei Mate 9, which will be available in stores across the GCC region over the next few weeks, will have colour options including ‘Space Gray’, ‘Moonlight Silver’, ‘Champagne Gold’, ‘Mocha Brown’ and ‘Ceramic White’ in 64GB.
