Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of Times Now and ET Now, announced yesterday he was quitting the Times Group, employees of the news channel said.
Goswami made the announcement at a meeting with Times Now employees.
Some of the employees said Goswami took questions after announcing his resignation.
They said he referred to the launch of Times Now in 2006 and said: “We disrupted the industry,” and it will be done again.
“The game has just begun,” the employees quoted Goswami as saying.
Goswami anchors prime time TV show The Newshour which is known for its intense and aggressive style of questioning.
With news doing the rounds that Goswami has quit, Times Now channel ran a ticker “Arnab Goswami is back tonight.”
Goswami started his career as a print journalist in The Telegraph, before joining NDTV in 1995.
According to Business Standard, Goswami might start a news channel with politician and entrepreneur Rajeev Chandrasekhar and American media baron Rupert Murdoch. It was also said that Goswami might join Fox News.
He was recently given “Y category” security cover from the government after the Intelligence Bureau perceived a threat to his life from “terrorists groups.” He was to get 24-hour protection from around 20 security personnel, including two personal security officers, who will guard him from close distance.
