Qatar and Belarus signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding following a round of official talks chaired by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and visiting President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between Qatar and Belarus and means of enhancing them in all fields, particularly economy and investment.
The meeting also discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, including developments in the Middle East.
Following the meeting, HH the Emir and Belarus president witnessed the signing of the following agreements and Memoranda of Understanding between the two countries.
1. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of financial affairs between the Ministry of Finance of the State of Qatar and the Finance Ministry of the Republic of Belarus.
2. An MoU in the field of health between the Ministry of Public Health of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Health of Belarus.
3. An MoU on scientific and academic co-operation between Qatar University and the Governmental University of Medicine of Belarus.
4. An MoU between Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and the Company Development Bank of Belarus were signed.
The talks and the agreement signing ceremony were attended by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and several ministers.
On the Belarusian side, the talks were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying President Lukashenko.
Earlier on arrival at the Emiri Diwan, the Belarusian president was accorded an official reception ceremony.
Following the agreement signing ceremony, HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of President Lukashenko and the accompanying delegation at the Emiri Diwan.
The banquet was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and a number of ministers.
Later in the evening,  President Lukashenko left Doha concluding an official visit to Qatar.
The Belarusian president and the accompanying delegation were seen off at the Hamad International Airport, by HE the Minister of Finance Ali Sherif al-Emadi and Qatar’s ambassador to Belarus, Saud bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud.
