Qatar Chamber (QC) announced yesterday the staging of the second edition of the ‘Made in China’ exhibition slated from November 15 to 18 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
QC director-general Saleh Hamad al-Sharqi said the expo will showcase a larger trade fair with more participating Chinese companies “due to the success of last year’s inaugural edition.”
Held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, the event will also feature B2B and B2G exchange platforms.
“These meetings, which are co-organised by Qatar Chamber and China International Centre for Economic and Technical Exchanges of the Ministry of Commerce, will comprehensively demonstrate to all countries in the Middle East and Africa ‘middle and high-end’ products and solutions in fields of Chinese architecture, science and technology,” al-Sharqi said.
Citing 2016 as the ‘Qatar-China Culture Year’, al-Sharqi said cultural exchanges between the two countries “will certainly enhance the economic and business relations of China and Qatar, including “friendly cooperation” in other related fields.
“The first edition of ‘Made in China’ was so successful with the participation of more than 100 Chinese major companies and transactions that exceeded $45mn. However, the upcoming edition targets transactions worth $450mn, as up to 10,000sqm will be added to the exhibition area, which could host 200 Chinese companies and exhibitors,” he pointed out.
Al-Sharqi also said the event will include the ‘China-GCC Forum for Investment and Trade’ to provide “an ideal platform” for businessmen to discuss investment opportunities and challenges facing the industry.
“The exhibition is a good opportunity to open the markets of the region for Chinese companies, and serves as an active platform for making productive partnerships with their counterparts in the region,” al-Sharqi said.
The inaugural edition of ‘Made in China’ served as the Qatari government’s first large-scale professional procurement exhibition, and carried the theme ‘architecture, science and technology’.
The exhibitors, all Chinese enterprises, included leading enterprises in China’s construction industry and superior building materials supporting facility enterprises.
The participating enterprises mainly came from Guangdong, Shenzhen, Jiangsu, and other provinces of China.
The exhibition showcased products in fields of Chinese furniture, lighting, architecture, and science and technology, and attracted 4,500 professional buyers during the three-day event.
