Qatar Charity has said around 2,000,000 people have benefited from its relief projects, carried out over the past six months in Aleppo (Syria) and its countryside.
The relief campaign covered the fields of healthcare, food, water, sanitation, shelter and in-kind supplies at a cost of more than QR17,000,000, according to a press statement from QC.
The aid included providing a number of ambulances, medication and supplies, restoring hospitals and supporting medical staff at a total cost of about QR3,500,000.
Further, the statement noted that the aids included the distribution of baby milk, benefiting around 8,500 children, food baskets/ready meals and flour. In addition, the beneficiaries received food baskets, such as those during Ramadan, and bakeries were also operated. For example, the mobile bakery in Jarabulus was operated and more than 300,000 people benefited from it. Kilis Kitchen was also supported, offering services to around 50,000 people.
QC’s projects in the field of water and sanitation covered the distribution of water tanks and cleaning baskets, whose final cost reached QR2,330,879. As for shelter, QC distributed blankets, mattresses, covers, rainproof items, clothes, cooking tools and other in-kind house supplies at a total cost of about QR2,651,703.
Rashid al-Ka’bi, director of relief management at QC, said: “The aid was donated by philanthropists in Qatar to alleviate the suffering of the people of Aleppo, who face a dire shortage of food, baby milk and basic supplies. It is our wish to provide the people of Aleppo with the daily food requirements, which they lack due to the siege. The people there suffer from high prices. We want to alleviate their financial and psychological problems and would also like to prevent the spread of diseases resulting from malnutrition.”
He encouraged Qatari philanthropists and people residing there to continue supporting the “Relieve Aleppo” campaign, pointing to the fact that such help was a humanitarian duty towards the distressed people of Syria whose
circumstances were very complicated.
QC inaugurated the campaign as an urgent plea in the beginning of May. It allocated QR10,000,000 as a first batch for meeting the urgent needs of the city, which was heavily bombarded back then.

Donations can be also for medical and health services (treatment of injured) through #Relieve_Aleppo. Donors can send “MS” in an SMS to 92632 to donate QR50, 92642 to donate QR100, to 92428 to donate QR500 or 92429 to donate QR 1,000. People can also donate food baskets at a cost of QR150 by sending ES in an SMS to 92652. They can contact the hotline – 44667711 - for donations and queries.
QC recently finished distributing food aid, which included food baskets, bread and baby milk, providing for the needs of each family for a month. Around 44,000 people benefited from the project, which was implemented at a cost of QR600,000.
Between April 2011 and May this year, more than 8,000,000 Syrians within and outside Syria - whether refugees or displaced - have benefited from projects implemented at a cost of around QR450,000,000.
