Reach Out To Asia (Rota) announced yesterday that the first phase of its annual Rota Youth Challenge: Leadership Training programme will take place from October 26 to 29.
More than 45 youth, male and female, are to take part in the programme that runs from October 2016 to March 2017 under the sponsorship of ExxonMobil Qatar.
The objective is to provide young people aged 16 - 26 in Qatar with the know-how to play an active role in developing their communities.
Participants will gain core leadership, project and community service campaign management skills, and leverage their goal setting capacities while networking with peers.
Throughout the programme, participants will work in groups to complete a series of assigned tasks and projects.
“Qatar’s youth have the capacity to become leaders who can inspire and mobilise others. They just need to be equipped with the right skills and tools to do so,” said Alistair Routledge, president and general manager for ExxonMobil Qatar.
The Rota Youth Challenge will put participants through real life challenges to equip them with the skills to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
The programme will also help young people chart their career paths, and prepare them to become qualified ambassadors for Qatar and Rota at international conventions.
Rota’s community development manager Abdulla al-Bakri said an enthusiastic group of youth has enrolled in the programme, eager to develop their skills and learn all they can from the initiative.
Rota, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, will showcase distinguished projects following the successful completion of the programme at the Empower Youth Conference in March 2017.
