The Ministry of Economy and Commerce in collaboration with Samsung Electronics Company has announced a “halt in the sales” of the Galaxy Note 7 and suspension of the campaign for replacements of Galaxy Note 7 devices.

Galaxy Note 7 owners can either exchange their Galaxy Note 7 for a Galaxy S7 Edge with a refund of the price difference (in the form of cash or Samsung products) or obtain a full refund of the device price, which is QR 2,999, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce has said in a release yesterday.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce said it has ensured coordination with the commercial agent in order to stop selling and using the device. Furthermore, the ministry has urged all customers who have purchased either the original or the replacement device to shut it down and stop using it and communicate with the commercial agent and suppliers for the price refund.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has urged customers to report any violations to its Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud Department through the following channels:

The initiative by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce comes as part of its efforts “to monitor defective goods in the market and continuously supervise the commercial agents to ensure their commitment and adherence to policies and procedures” on the maintenance and repair of defective devices. This is being done to protect the rights of consumers, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce said.
Recently, Samsung announced the start of a comprehensive recall campaign in all countries where Galaxy Note 7 was sold, after the explosion of the devices while charging due to a defect in the battery.
