A high-profile delegation from Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has participated in the “Post-World Humanitarian Summit” conference in China.
QRCS was represented by its executive director, Fahad bin Mohamed al-Nuaimi, who attended sessions with representatives of IFRC and national societies of the Asia-Pacific and Mena regions.
The conference was held by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Red Cross Society of China and Research and Development International of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS-RDI) in Dehong, Yunnan, China.
The purpose of the conference was to deepen the understanding of humanitarian issues and continue reflecting on the important questions raised during the World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) and about the action to be taken.
The conference focused particularly on the following topics: identifying the most pressing humanitarian challenges affecting Asia Pacific and Mena and the ways to respond to them; driving a more inclusive and participatory capacity to meet the needs of the most vulnerable, enable communities to understand risks and withstand shocks, and develop a culture of safety and prevention across the two regions; providing leadership and result-driven approaches to bring community resilience to the next level; defining concrete modalities for localising aid and linking up local, regional and global efforts into a better integrated and co-ordinated approach; preventing and ending conflicts in Asia Pacific and Mena regions; and facilitating investment and multi-year engagement to generate “at-scale” outcomes and lasting impact.
