Portuguese ambassador Antonio Tanger Correa joins HE the Minister of Justice Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi, chief of protocol in Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro, and other dignitaries during the celebration of the National Day of Portugal at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel yesterday.
Held every June, the National Day of Portugal was only celebrated in Qatar yesterday because the event coincided with the observance of the holy month of Ramadan, the ambassador said.
The ambassador also led the official launching of the Portuguese Business Council–Qatar during the event where the founding members of the organisation were introduced to distinguished guests and other members of the audience.
The event was highlighted by a musical concert of Fado performed by Maria Ana Bobone, who is unanimously recognised as one of the best among her generation of Fadistas.
