The Qatar Football Association (QFA), and Qatar Shell organised a three-day coaching clinic in preparation for the launch of the fifth season of ‘Il’Ab We’Yana’, an extra-curricular football programme targeted at boys and girls between the age group of 7 to 16.
Il’Ab We’Yana is based on FC Barcelona Foundation’s FutbolNet methodology and provides children with an extra 72 hours of extra-curricular physical education per year.  The seminar focused on five teaching modules that address healthy living through football. Over 50 local coaches from the QFA and Qatar Women’s Sports Committee, including Qatari men and women, attended the seminar.
Il’Ab We’Yana is part of an award-winning Koora Time initiative developed by the Qatar Football Association in partnership with Qatar Shell. The initiative is designed to improve the health and well-being of young people in Qatar through football. Since its launch in March 2013, the programme has benefited over 10,000 children across Qatar. Last year’s programme saw a significant reduction in Body Mass Index (BMI) by 80% of participants. BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. In recognition for its positive impact on the health of youth, KOORA TIME has been the recipient of numerous awards including the ‘Sports Industry Award’ for Best CSR Initiative, ‘CSR Award Qatar’ for Best CSR Impact Initiative, the ‘Dar Al Sharq Corporate Social Responsibility Award’ for the Best Sports Initiative, and the ‘AFC Dream of Asia Award’ in the area of social responsibility.
