A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an expatriate man to six months suspended jail term for attempts to steal large quantity of diesel from a company.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah on Friday reported that the court also suspended the verdict for three years as the defendant does not hitherto have criminal record and was believed not to cause any further harm to the society.
The issue started when a security guard at the company saw the defendant parking his truck near to the diesel tank of the company. He also saw him stretching a hose from that tank to a tank in his truck to draw diesel. The security guard took photos of the incident with his mobile phones. These were submitted to the court alongside his testimony.
Though another witness testified in the court that he saw the defendant praying at the mosque at the time of the crime and his truck was also parked nearby, the court established his guilt based on the photos and the reports of the incident.
