Umm Salal’s head of football Sheikh Tamim bin Mohammed al-Thani is expecting big things from his side after an encouraging start to the 2016/2017 QSL season. The Umm Salal manager had an exclusive chat with QSL online to get his thoughts on his team’s early season form, and their expectations for the season ahead.
Opening up the conversation Sheikh Tamim stressed that his side is looking forward to the restart of the QSL action. “The international break will be good for Umm Salal. We are looking to become better after showing a strong performance in our first two games. We are playing Al Shahania in round three and we are looking forward to it.”
Talking about his side’s ambitions, Sheikh Tamim believes that Umm Salal can make the top 4 this season. “Our aim has to be the top four for this season. I think our squad is strong, and I believe our four professional players have settled well at the club. We need to push on now and continue this strong start.”
Sheikh Tamim also believes with four teams set to be relegated from the will lead to a competitive season. “Four teams going down will be interesting on the league; I am expecting a well-established side to be relegated from the QSL season.”
The Umm Salal team manager also had some words for Al Arabi and Al Rayyan and their participation in the QSL this season. “I am looking forward to Al Arabi and Al Rayyan bringing plenty of fans into the stadium and increasing the atmosphere and excitement of the league.”
Sheikh Tamim was also keen to thank and the appreciate the efforts and work of the previous Club Management chaired by Sheikh Faisal bin Ahmed al-Thani, wishing also the new management all the best in leading the team to the top.
Concluding the interview Sheikh Tamim said, “I wish the Qatar National Team all the best in the qualification campaign to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and hopes that Al Anabi will grab two wins and kick start their qualification campaign.”
