Qatari and Japanese delegations and businessmen discussed ways of strengthening mutual economic and commercial relations, particularly in the agriculture sector. A Japanese trade team headed by Kentaro Sonoura, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, met with Qatar Chamber officials at the Four Seasons hotel in Doha yesterday. Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani presided over the meeting in the presence of board members Mohamed Ahmed al-Obaidli, Rashid Hamad al-Azba, and Khaled bin Jabr al-Kuwari, alongside a number of Qatari businessmen. Sonoura pointed out that both the countries enjoy “robust” bilateral relations in all economic sectors. Similarly, Sheikh Khalifa said Japan is an “important strategic partner” to Qatar, and affirmed that Japan is among the top countries importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar. Sheikh Khalifa also expressed hope that the delegation and their Qatari counterparts would work in developing the relations “for the benefit of both the countries.” Picture shows Sonoura and Sheikh Khalifa  holding talks in Doha.
