The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, in co-ordination with Interpol’s Project Stadia, has held a meeting to review safety and security preparations for the upcoming 2016 UCI Road World Championships.
The two-day meeting brought together security representatives from different countries, including some from Europe, according to a report on the Ministry of Interior’s website.
Doha will host the international cycling event from October 9 to 16.
Speaking on the occasion, Captain Falah al-Dousari from Project Stadia underscored the collaboration and co-ordination between Qatar and other member countries in hosting international mega sports events and championships. Project Stadia aims to help future hosts strengthen their preparations with the latest knowledge and expertise.
He appreciated the preparations made by the security committee of the 2016 UCI Road World Championships, stressing these would ensure high-level security for the event.
