HEC Paris has introduced three new Open-enrolment programmes in Qatar this academic year.
Building on last year’s successful run of open programmes, the three new programmes are: Marketing through Social Media; Creating and Sustaining Competitive Advantage; and Profitable Growth – Value Creating Financial Strategies. These will run alongside three others that are returning by popular demand: Managing People to Create Impact; Negotiation Skills and Strategies; and Demystifying Finance.
Starting off the schedule on September 21-22, 2016 is Creating and Sustaining Competitive Advantage, which will be led by Prof Daniel Simonovich, Adjunct Professor, HEC Paris. He teaches Strategy and Information Systems at HEC Paris. The two-day programme is designed to build confidence to develop effective and clear strategies. Participants will learn how to distinguish between strategic and operational issues and how to translate major strategic decisions into implementable actions.
Affiliate Professor Olivier Tabatoni, who has been on the faculty of various global business schools, will be teaching the programme Profitable Growth – Value Creating Financial Strategies on October 23-24, 2016. The main theme of the programme is “making business decisions with a value creation mindset.”
The first of the returning programmes, Negotiation Skills and Strategies will take place on November 6-7, 2016. It has been specifically designed to build on the existing negotiation experience of the participants and enable them to improve their future performance.
Led by Affiliate Professor Matthew Mulford, who is an expert in negotiation analysis, effective business decision-making and leadership, the programme will give each participant the opportunity to step back and think about their assumptions and routine approaches to negotiations and to practice new approaches.
Prof Mulford will also lead the Managing People to Create Impact programme on November 9-10, with the aim to build the necessary skills to succeed in creating impact through and with others. Participants will be better equipped to tackle some of the challenges associated with managing others.
Demystifying Finance, to take place in January 2017, is a short programme designed to cover the fundamental aspects of accounting and finance.  Professor Patrick Legland will focus on providing participants with an easy-to-learn and practical financial toolbox.
Rounding off the new programmes on February 7-8, Associate Professor Kristine de Valck will be leading Marketing Through Social Media.
The programme combines lectures with case studies and exercises, with the teaching materials covering theory, framework and latest research insights as well as the best and worst practices.
