Social media have been flooded with photos of fans waiting to catch a glimpse of the Aussie actor, Hemsworth, who plays the titular role in Thor, and his English co-star, Hiddleston, who plays Loki.
Hemsworth posted a photo of himself with Hiddleston on his Instagram in front of a news vendor, saying ‘Just sellin papers with my mate.’ ‘When we got the cafe all we ever wanted to do was make nice coffee for nice people,’ George Kalatzis, the owner of Atomic Coffee and Catering that will feature in the movie, told local paper Courier Mail.
‘Now we're making nice coffee for the stars of a Hollywood movie.’ Queensland police said Monday at least three streets have been shut down for the shooting and traffic is being redirected, with police and private security deployed in the area.
Some of the streets have been transformed to look like New York, with yellow cabs, school buses, and police cars.
Ebony and Shantel Williams, two Brisbane sisters dressed as Loki - a Thor character played by Hiddleston, were among hundreds waiting for hours to see their heartthrob and get signatures.
‘Amazing! I was like crying before,’ Ebony said, standing atop a milk crate, close to the street where the filming was ongoing.
‘It's cool to see them in costume, in person,’ Shantel said.
Hemsworth and Hiddleston appeared briefly on Monday morning, and smiled and waved at the gathering crowd.
‘I think they just woke up but they still looked pretty good,’ said 18-year-old Bea Urbuda, who had been waiting in line since dawn.
The movie Thor: Ragnarok is set for release next year.
