The 18-day Local Dates Festival, organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in co-operation with the Souq Waqif management, concluded on Sunday. The MME tweeted yesterday that some 60 tonnes of dates were sold at the festival, which received 55,000 visitors. A number of dignitaries who visited the festival praised the initiative. The event has been attended by HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi and other dignitaries, including ambassadors of some countries.
