Mashreq, one of the leading financial institutions in the GCC, has announced the appointment of Tooran Asif as the new head of Retail Banking in Qatar.
A seasoned financial service professional with several years of experience in senior leadership roles across Asia, Middle East, and the UK, Asif joined Mashreq in early 2012 as head of Personal Banking for the UAE, Qatar, and Egypt, and the Retail Islamic Business. In 2014, he was appointed as chief executive officer of Mashreq Al Islami, the Islamic Banking arm of Mashreq Bank.

Prior to joining Mashreq, Asif was head of Consumer Lending Standard Chartered UAE, country head of Consumer Banking Standard Chartered Sri Lanka, and general manager Credit Cards and Personal Loans at Standard Chartered Pakistan. He has also worked for Citigroup in Pakistan, where he was director Marketing & Cards Business head.
An electrical engineer by training, Asif also holds an MBA in Marketing from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, Pakistan.
