Hornets kill four

A mother and her three minor daughters died from hornet-bite in village Arazi Laskora under Shibrampur union in Birganj of Dinajpur district, police and hospital sources said yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Tanzina Begum, 33, wife of Islam Mian, their daughters Noorjahan Hadifa, 7,
Farzana Akhter, 5, and 11-month old Meem of the village.
Quoting family sources, police said Noorjahan and Farzana were shaking bamboo trees in a nearby bamboo cluster while playing there. A nest of hornets in the trees was damaged at around 6.30pm on Saturday.
A large number of the hornets immediately started biting Noorjahan and Farzana. Their mother Tanzina with her 11-month old daughter Meem in her lap rushed to save her screaming daughters. in the end all four were badly bitten.
Officer-in-charge of Birganj police station Abu Akkas Ahmed confirmed the tragic deaths of the three minor girls and their mother.
