Ministry conducts clean-up campaign

The beaches and coasts section at Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) General Cleanliness Department conducted a clean-up drive at the Al Wakrah beach and port. During the initiative, four old refrigerators that were used aboard ships (now abandoned) were removed from the port, along with a large number of tyres, pieces of wood and plastic, empty cans and plastic bags.

* Sewage water removal

The cleanliness section in the Municipal Affairs Department at Al Shamal Municipality removed more than 1.5mn gallons of sewage water and addressed 453 electronic requests for this purpose in July. It also carried out 55 pest control works during the same period in addition to a general campaign to fight rodents and insects in public places.

* Grocery closure

The director of Al Sheehaniya Municipality, Mohamed Saif al-Hajiri, has issued an administrative decision to close a grocery within the municipality's jurisdiction for seven days for selling expired food products.

* New gazelle at zoo

The zoo got a new member with the birth of a Dorcas gazelle, also known as Ariel gazelle, which was born in healthy condition under the supervision of the veterinary unit. The zoo comes under the MME's Public Parks Department.
