A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced three Sri Lankan expatriates to one year in jail each for attempted theft of a company's assets.
The court has also ordered their subsequent deportation, according to local Arabic daily Arrayah.
One night, the three defendants went to the storehouse of a company to steal a machine used for cutting marbles. As they tried to take the machine away, they were spotted by a security guard who was on duty at that time.
Accordingly, the guard reported the matter to the police even as the three men tried to flee in their vehicle.
The police eventually arrested three defendants and their fingerprints were found on the machine during the investigation.
