Al Shaqab Racing’s Heshem won the Prix Eugène Adam (Group 2) at Maisons-Laffitte, France, yesterday. Heshem made a great recovery after trailing in fourth spot in the beginning of the race, behind Craven’s Legend and Viserano, before pulling away by jockey Grégory Benoist 300 metres out. Ultra came second by less than a length, with Spectroscope third by three lengths. “He is a horse that has been preserved as his owners had more hardened representatives at the beginning of the season,” said Christophe Ferland, the winning trainer. “Today, he did it on class alone as 2000m is really the end of the world for him. Gregory Benoist knows him by heart. He will next run the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano (Gr 2) in August in Deauville.”
