A mesmerising view of Fanar (Qatar Islamic Cultural Centre) captured against the backdrop of the night sky has turned out to be the winning picture of the 16th edition of the Gulf Times Instagram contest.

Clicked by Mohamed Kamal B, an Indian expatriate, the picture generated more likes and comments than the other photographs.
It was the first photographic competition he ever entered, says Mohamed, who works as a systems engineer with the Telecommunications Department, Ministry of Interior.
For the 30-year-old native of India’s Karnataka state, photography has been his favourite hobby since college days. It is the fifth year of residency for Mohamed, who lives with his wife in Qatar.
