Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) will continue serving the local community in the Al Shamal northern part of the country by distributing food packs to poor families and giving away gifts to hospitalised children.
Throughout Ramadan, the branch distributed food packs to 230 low-income families in Al Khor and neighbouring districts to meet their needs during the holy month.
Each family received rice, sugar, vegetable oil, and milk for each of the food packs. The recipients thanked QRCS for these supplies, which represent a form of humanitarian solidarity with vulnerable groups of the society.
A team from the QRCS Al Khor branch also visited the paediatrics department of Al Khor Hospital to distribute gifts and toys to young patients.
The visit aims to make children happy and engage them in the Ramadan celebration.
The hospital’s public relations department lauded QRCS’s efforts and constant co-operation in such noble endeavour, which cheered 10 children this year.
The QRCS Al Khor branch also organised a campaign at mosques to offer free medical services such as blood sugar and blood pressure tests.
Around 300 men and women benefited from the activity, which was held under the supervision of the Mosques Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. They also received some advice on the benefits of fasting and how to avoid unhealthy practices.
QRCS branch in Al Khor is working hard to provide social and humanitarian services for Al Shamal residents. It aims to enhance QRCS’s influence in this region as an auxiliary to the State of Qatar in its humanitarian and social policies locally and abroad.
QRCS wants to contribute in developing local communities, and designing customised services and social programmes for specific regions.
