The Kapilvastu Muslim Society (KMS) organised a programme at Mazza Restaurant to mark Eid al-Fitr. KMS President Akhtar Hussein chaired the programme, while Nepali Muslim Society President Abdul Hafiz Miya was the chief guest. Other Nepali community leaders also attended.
Mohammad Muktda Mu talked about Eid al-Fitr and the importance of Ramadan. Miya hoped that Eid celebrations will help bring the Nepali community closer together and help unite them. TB Karki, a community leader, said that Eid helps bring both Muslim and non-Muslim communities closer together. Abdul Basid, another speaker, said Eid al-Ftir is an occasion to start new friendships and strengthen the older ones.
Sahara Khan, a female participant, said she began fasting when she was in her early teens. She recalled her father giving alms to roadside beggars during Ramadan.
The programme was co-ordinated and hosted by Mohammad Muktda Mu.
