It is quite strange how Hrithik Roshan can keep getting into situations he rather not be in. He has not always been a subject of controversy but over the last couple of years, it seems to be chasing him relentlessly.
From the break-up of his marriage to the recent bizarre public spat with Kangana Ranaut over whether they were in a relationship, Hrithik has come a long way. His problems began after his alleged affair with actress Barbara Mori during the shooting of Kites and then there were repeated rumours of his wife walking out until it became public that they were divorcing.
The latest on the Kangana controversy is that the two have brought the volume down a notch, though there will be plenty of rancour within. Hrithik, when asked at an event whether he had put it behind him, said that everything will be in front of everyone. Kangana was more diplomatic when asked at another event and said that she would only take decent questions.
But Hrithik has now become something of magnet for bad press and in an unrelated incident he again got panned on social media. This was soon after the horrific attack in Istanbul airport by suicide bombers, which claimed many lives. The day it happened, Hrithik put up a tweet that was ostensibly to offer condolences but it backfired badly on him.
He had tweeted, ‘missed connecting flight at Istanbul n wer stuck at airport next flight ws next day,but took economy n flew out earlier. Ws helped by d kindest staff at Istanbul arport hours ago. Shocking news. Innocents killed 4 religion.V must stand united against terrorism.’
What got the goat of people in social media was the line that he mentioned how he had to take an economy flight later. They thought that he was bringing in a silly elitism during a tragedy of such a magnitude. He got a lot of angry responses on Twitter about it.
But he was not alone. Celina Jaitley also tweeted about how she was shocked about the attack considering that she had only transited through there last month, but she also added that it was on her way to Miami to be honoured by an organisation. This was a totally unnecessary piece of information in a tweet marking a tragedy. Some of these Bollywood personalities perhaps need a lesson on social media etiquettes.

Together or not

There seems to quite a melodramatic story simmering around the suspected romance of Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat. They had first acted together in a movie called Sanam Re which released early this year.
Another movie called Junooniyat with both of them has also just released. Both flopped miserably. That is bad news for Pulkit but Yami still has good career options going, especially with a movie in which she stars opposite Hrithik Roshan.
It was during the shooting of Sanam Re that their alleged relationship began to brew. The only problem was that Pulkit is married. A website recently reported that when Sanam Re was being shot Pulkit’s wife suspected that Yami was trying to get close to him and there was a huge row between the two. After that Pulkit and Yami did allegedly go on to be in a relationship and he is now reportedly separating from his wife.
There are however also other gossip items which say that Yami might be pulling out of the relationship. So, it might just be possible that the relationship is something that was cooked up as a publicity stunt to sell their movie. Not that it did any good, even if true!

Superstar bonding

You got to say this about superstars — once they bury their enmity, they bond very well. For some time, after a nasty fight at a party many years ago, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan behaved as if the other didn’t exist and Bollywood was divided into two camps.
But then there was peace called and they seem to have now warmed up to each other a lot. You might even call them friends. An example of it was seen in the recent controversy where Salman compared his condition after a stringent shooting schedule of a wrestling scene in Sultan to be like a raped woman, incensing many for the callousness of the comparison.
There have been demands that he apologise, but Salman has so far not done it. Even a few Bollywood personalities have said he should do so. When Shah Rukh was asked about whether Salman should apologise he deftly sidestepped it by saying that he himself had made inappropriate comments in the past and he was therefore no one to judge anyone else.
But that wasn’t the only indication of their warm relationship. Shah Rukh also put up a tweet recently which showed both him and Salman on bicycles. He wrote, ‘Bhai bhai on bike bike. No pollution…’ Translated it means brothers on bikes together.

The speculated rift

Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are two of the most successful exports from Bollywood to Hollywood. In the last couple of years, the two have shown that Indian actresses do not have to limit their ambitions.
Both have plum projects in the west opposite major stars. When they did Bajirao Mastani together, the two were supposed to be very thick and the media raved about it. But now things don’t seem to be so kosher anymore.
At a recent film awards function, the two were slated to dance together to a song of Bajirao Mastani but suddenly it was revealed that Priyanka would be doing it alone. When Priyanka was asked about it she said she had no idea why the change happened and only the organisers could answer that.
Deepika meanwhile performed on another song at the same show. It is speculated that she pulled out and that they look at each other as competitors in Hollywood and apparently that might have driven the wedge between them. Deepika however said in another interview that the rift is a media creation and that their relationship was as it was earlier. But then what else would she say?
