HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has chaired the second meeting of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) for 2016, which was held this evening at Al Bahr Palace.
The meeting was attended by HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Personal Representative of HH the Emir, who is also Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, member of the Board, and the rest of the Board’s members.
Discussions during the meeting dealt with the progress of work and achievements of the projects related to the 2022 World Cup, as well as future projects, in addition to the review of the plans to ensure the involvement of investors in the tournament projects.

Emir sends Independence Day greetings

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah  bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh on the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day.

Culture Minister to hold meeting of theatre group

HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali will hold a meeting with dramatists, actors and people interested in theatrical work today at Qatar National Theatre.
The ministry invited the members of the theatre groups and those interested to participate in the meeting which reflects the keenness of the Ministry of Culture and Sports to interact with all Qatari intellectuals in various fields of creativity and to communicate with them to develop the cultural sector.
The meeting will discuss the challenges facing the national theatre movement and participants will exchange views in order to come out with a clear vision and plan for the advancement of the theatre in Qatar.
HE the Minister of Culture and Sports announced last month the launch of the theatre’s Affairs Centre in order to improve the theatre movement.


Advisory Council holds meeting
The Advisory Council yesterday held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
HE the Secretary-General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen read out the agenda which was agreed upon.
Then, the Council endorsed the minutes of its previous session.
The Council discussed a draft law amending some provisions of Decree Law No 15 of 2007 regulating the marketing and sale of government-regulated products outside Qatar, and decided to submit its recommendations thereon to the Council of Ministers.
Then, the Council reviewed a draft law on the State Audit Bureau, and decided to refer it to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee.
The Council also discussed a report by the legal and legislative affairs committee in relation to a draft law on the official gazette, and decided to submit its recommendations  to the Council of Ministers.
Separately, the Advisory Council’s Financial and Economic Affairs Committee held a meeting today chaired by its rapporteur Mohamed Ajaj al-Kubaisi.
The meeting discussed a draft law on the State Audit Bureau.

Qatar takes part in international Holy Qur’an competitions
Qatar is participating in two Holy Qur’an international competitions during the holy month of Ramadan in Jordan and Algeria.
In the Jordan contest, Qatar is represented by Abdulaziz Abdullah al-Hamri in the category of  “memorising the whole Qur’an”, while it is represented by Abdulaziz Ahmed Abdulaziz Ghani in Algeria’s 13th International Holy Qur’an competition.
