Commercial Bank has celebrated Garangao by distributing special gifts to a number of
organisations across Qatar.
Garangao takes place on the 14th day of Ramadan and is considered a tradition in Qatar and the Gulf, with its roots in the pearl diving heritage of the region.
As part of Commercial Bank’s CSR initiatives focusing on the Qatari community, the bank distributed Garangao gifts such as traditional sweets and nuts to children at Al Wakra Hospital, Hamad Hospital and Best Buddies (under the umbrella of Shafallah Centre),
it said in a statement.
Children also had the opportunity to enjoy Garangao stands at Commercial Bank branches in malls, with gifts and photographs on offer.
Commercial Bank CEO Abdulla Saleh al-Raisi said, “Garangao is a wonderful time of celebration for children during the holy month of Ramadan, and Commercial Bank believes it is our responsibility to encourage and support Qatari traditions that preserve our heritage. Garangao is a culturally significant event celebrated by the entire Qatari community and Commercial Bank is proud to spread the Garangao joy for everyone.”
