The Ministry said the move aims at enhancing the protection of consumers’ rights and to guarantee that the ration supplies reach those entitled for them.
The citizens will be able to receive SMS on the registered mobile number linked to the ration card, the Ministry said.
The initiative is also meant to enhance Ministry’s control of the local market and discover any violations immediately. In case of any doubt or suspicious transactions, the citizens should contact the call centre on 16001.
The Ministry reiterated that subsidised ration materials livestock fodder is an exclusive right for the citizens and cannot be given to others for any reason whatsoever. Any violations will be decisively dealt with by the Ministry.
