Astad was the platinum sponsor of this year’s annual ICPMA (International Construction Project Management Association) Conference in Doha.
The two-day event was the first ICPMA conference to be held in the Middle East, bringing together international and local speakers who discussed technology gains with BIM (building information modelling), innovative building services and
digitalisation.
The theme at this year’s ICPMA Conference was “Shaping Qatar and the Middle East: Leading by Innovation”, which focused on current projects in Qatar and the Middle East, and how they reflected innovation within the context of construction project management, design, materials, construction
processes, etc.
Ali al-Khalifa, CEO of Astad, said: “At Astad, we expanded our services and launched our international operations, making this conference a platform to provide project and construction management opportunities and engage in new business on a global level.”
Astad Consult general manager Fahad al-Jahrami participated in the event by delivering a presentation titled “Integrated Delivery of Mixed Use Destination”. His presentation focused on the highlights of Education City and the Qatar Special Economic Zones as an integrated suite of large-scale destinations, the dynamic engagement of client and external stakeholders and staged deliveries with strategic
partnerships.
On the second day of the conference, Astad arranged for the high-level attendees to be taken on a site visit to one of the projects it delivered last year, the award-winning Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies. Around 30-40 attendees took part in it, with the Astad on-site team providing an informed tour from a project management perspective.
The ICPMA is a global organisation that spreads best practice in construction and project management throughout its membership.
