The inspections conducted across the country by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) at nuts and sweets shops have spotted 11 consumer violations.

A total of 546 outlets were covered in the inspection, which was done as part of a campaign ahead of Garangao celebrations.

The violations included charging higher than the tag price, display of expired products and not posting information labels in Arabic on the items on display. Violators were issued a violation report each, which could entail them a fine ranging from QR3,000 and up to QR1mn.
