Asian Athletics Association (AAA) and Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF) president Dahlan al-Hamad said on Monday that the past season saw a number of championships and achievements for Qatari athletics.
Al-Hamad was speaking during a meeting of the QAF in its new session.
He said that the federation excelled when it hosted the international and continental championships last year.
He was full of praise in particular for the organisation of the IAAF Diamond League which hosted a number of world champions and saw strong attendance from the fans.
Al-Hamad said he expects next season to see a host of new Qatari talents, which would increase participation in continental and international competitions. He added that Qatar’s participation in the Rio 2016 Olympics.
