The summit, organised by Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (Goic) in association with the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development, will take place at the Westin Doha on November 14 and 15.
The event represents an “ideal platform for clean energy professionals and experts to network and discuss the most effective alternative sources of energy for the GCC region and worldwide, as well as the future co-operation in combating climate changes”, according to a statement.
It will welcome leading innovators and policy-makers in the clean energy sector, covering areas such as low-carbon transport, smart and sustainable cities, renewable energy integration, smart grids, energy saving and efficiency, industrial energy management, wind energy, bioenergy, geothermal energy, professional services, hydropower, energy storage and solar thermal energy.
Mohamed Eisa, Unido representative and director of the regional office in South Africa, said: “The GCESSE provides an international platform for Unido to participate in several events led by distinguished scholars and personalities who are leading the global energy and environmental sustainability areas.

On the Unido’s role in the sustainable energy sector, Eisa said: “Together with other sister UN organisations such as UNEP, the GCESS facilitates attainment of our obligations vis-a-vis member-countries and helps creation of an enabling environment for exploring opportunities of co-operation and joint programming with the countries of the GCC and Qatar for our mutual benefit.”
