Zelzal, who carries the colours of Al Shaqab Racing, won the Prix Paul de Moussac (Gr3) in style, this Saturday at Chantilly. In a fast-paced race led by Moon Trouble, Zelzal waited patiently in the pack.
In the straight, he began to make his move before producing a devastating acceleration in the final 200 metres to win easily.
Jean-Claude Rouget, his trainer, said: “It wasn’t an easy race, as the horse that led is a good horse. It needed a good horse to beat him. I think that Zelzal has still room to improve, as he only began to work in February. He should run in the Prix Jean Prat (Gr1). He gave a real performance of class today.”
Zelzal previously ran in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (Gr1) where he showed a lack of experience.
