Milaha has launched its 2016 training programme targeting Qatari university students currently enrolled in the universities in Qatar and abroad and pursuing maritime, engineering, finance and business administration-related majors.
The 14 students, who will be taking part in this year’s programme, were introduced to Milaha through the various job fairs and outreach initiatives that the company has recently launched or participated in as part of its ongoing Qatarisation drive and engagement with the local community.
“Based on feedback from previous years, our team has worked hard to further improve the programme in order to maximise the benefit that the students can gain from it,” Milaha president and chief executive Abdulrahman Essa al-Mannai said.
The training programme at Milaha (formerly Qatar Navigation) is held annually in January, April, June, and July, and allows Qatari students to experience working across Milaha’s maritime and logistics businesses, including port services, shipping agencies and other local operations of the company, based on their majors.
The programme aims to provide students with a practical experience that complements their theoretical education, under the supervision of highly-qualified Milaha staff. The programme lasts 4-8 weeks according to the requirements of the school or college each student belongs to, or based on the interns’ requests and projects.
